Bellator 143 results recap, video highlights for 'Warren vs Davis'

The twelfth Bellator MMA event of 2015 featured "Warren vs. Davis" -- also known as Bellator 143 -- which took place last night (Fri., Sept. 25, 2015) inside State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, and streamed live on Spike TV.文章源自武享吧-https://www.hula8.net/bellator/19691.html

The main event saw the self-proclaimed "Baddest Man on the Planet," Joe Warren, looking for redemption in a Bantamweight bout against "Fight of the Year" contender L.C. Davis, with either winner aiming to move closer to a shot at the coveted belt.文章源自武享吧-https://www.hula8.net/bellator/19691.html

Whether you love or hate Warren, he did what he does best in this fight -- take his opponent down over and over with superior wrestling technique. When Davis would try to turn it into a brawl, Warren ducked under the strikes and put Davis' butt on the canvas again.

The judges had no choice but to call it (30-27 x3) in Warren's favor.

The only controversy about the decision may be a blatant eye poke by Warren in the second round:

Warren spoke to Jimmy Smith after the fight:

"Everything was on that fight. I had to get that win, had to stay focused, an extremely tough opponent, I'm happy with that win. 'The Baddest Man' is going to get another belt in Bellator soon."

The co-main event at Middleweight had "slobberknocker" potential written all over it as Joey "The Mexecutioner" Beltran was hoping to have a rock 'em, sock 'em war with popular submission specialist Kendall 'Da Spyder' Grove.

The crowd was bored to the point of booing periodically throughout the first two rounds, as Grove used his height and reach advantage to stay out of Beltran's range, tagging him with a backpedaling left jab and hook. That all changed in the third round as Grove dropped Beltran with a right as he was coming forward, and Kerry Hatley rushed in to stop it as Grove got one additional shot in on the ground. The knockout time was 2:27 of round three.

Grove spoke to Jimmy Smith after the stoppage.

"You can't get into a firefight with Joey, that's where he made his name, he's dangerous. I had to not turn into a Hawaiian there and fight my fight. I was trying to set him up, get him comfortable, and once I saw him at the end of my jab I knew the right hand would land."

He also called Brandon Halsey a "juice monkey" and promised he could beat him in a rematch.

Bellator 143 also featured two of the promotion's top Featherweight contenders in action. Both Emmanuel Sanchez and Henry Corrales had lost their last bout to a former champion, so this time only one could move back into contention.

This fight was left up to the judges, but not before Corrales opened up a stream of blood over Sanchez' left eye. Despite the visible damage it appeared Sanchez was actually winning the fight thanks to more aggressive striking and a first round where he nearly finished Corrales off with a flying triangle.

The right man ultimately won, but the scorecards saw three different fights: 30-27 Corrales, 30-27 Sanchez, 29-28 for Sanchez by split decision.

Sanchez was interviewed by Jimmy Smith after the fight:

"It felt really good. I wish I didn't look like this. I pride myself on my defense. For all my family and my people back home I leave it all on the line. I'm a strong Mexican warrior and so is he. Thank you everybody for watching."

The show opened with the promotional debut of Heavyweight kickboxing veteran Ewerton Teixeira, hoping to make a go of it in Bellator against 10-fight MMA veteran Vinicius "Spartan" Queiroz.

Teixeira acquitted himself well enough in a close first round, and may have even hurt Queiroz in the first half minute of round two, but in both rounds it was the ground game of "Spartan" that was too much for the Bellator newcomer to handle. Using his length and reach to his full advantage, the 6'7" Queiroz was able to get an arm triangle choke from the half guard at the four minute mark.

Here's a Whipclip of how it looked on the ground:
